US giant company ‘badly trapped’ in the affair of Indian workers, now it will have to pay compensation, know the whole matter

Cognizable case: America’s leading IT service and consulting company Cognizant is in big trouble because of Indian workers. Cognizant was accused of hiring more Indians and discriminating against non-Indians. She was giving priority to Indians in jobs, so that they could get H-1B visas. At the same time, now a US court has ruled that Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation has discriminated against non-Indian employees.
The court has said that Cognizant should compensate those employees of the company who have suffered losses. This matter came to light in 2017, when some employees accused the company of discrimination in job. In the last hearing, the court could not take any decision, but this time the court has given its verdict against Cognizant. This decision is being discussed a lot in America.

What has Cognizant said on the court’s decision?

Cognizant has said that it is very unhappy with the court’s decision and is going to appeal further in the court. “We provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and have created a diverse and inclusive workplace that fosters a culture of belonging. In an environment where all employees are valued, they are valued,” company spokesman Jeff DeMarrais said in a statement. “They feel they have the opportunity to develop themselves and be successful.”

Bloomberg News reported in July that New Jersey-based Cognizant was among the companies that take advantage of H-1B visa rules. The company said it follows all regulations and in recent years has increased recruitment in the US and reduced its reliance on H1-B visas.

What is the matter?

Actually, this whole matter started like this when three employees of Cognizant alleged that the company gives preference to South Asian people in jobs. The employees alleged that the company kept them without work for five weeks and then terminated them. After this, employees from India were recruited in their place. According to the Citizenship and Immigration Services, from 2013 to 2019, Cognizant had more H-1B visa holders than any other US company.
