Jaya Bachchan took a break from films after marrying Amitabh Bachchan in 1973. She started taking care of the family and children. But when the actress made a comeback in 1998 after 19 years, there was no limit to the happiness of the fans. Jaya Bachchan made a comeback with Govind Nihalani’s film ‘Ek Hazar Chaurasi Ki Maa’. When Jaya was asked whether she had asked Amitabh Bachchan to make a comeback in films, she gave a befitting reply. Jaya Bachchan had given an interview to ‘Rediff’ in the year 1997. At that time she was making a comeback. When Jaya was asked whether she had received any film offers during the break, she had said, ‘You will be surprised, but the answer is no, I did not receive any offers.’

When Jaya said that she wanted to come into films, we said okay, go ahead. When he/she decided to quit, of course, I felt that his/her talent was being wasted. But it was completely his/her decision.
