In 2015, Sushma Swaraj participated in the annual Heart of Asia conference. This conference was held in Pakistan on 7-8 December. At that time representatives of 14 countries were present there. Sushma’s visit came a few days after peace talks between India and Pakistan in Bangkok. Earlier, India had canceled a high-level meeting in August after months of tension over Kashmir. The Heart of Asia conference brings together Asian and other countries to discuss the future of Afghanistan and its neighbors. At that time, security cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan was considered important to counter the growing threat from the Taliban and other terrorists in the region.
