Where are parents making mistakes?

Dr. Imran said that even when the child turns seven or eight months old, the parents do not develop the habit of eating food themselves but are still feeding him/her with their hands. If the child is not eating healthy things, then give him/her other options. Due to excessive pampering in Indian families, children are unable to become self-reliant. So let us now know what parents can do to make children self-reliant.

jbcnschool.eduAn article published on the website states that if you keep the child’s tasks in sequence, it will make it easier for him/her to take decisions. Create a structure for your child’s daily activities to help him/her make decisions in a controlled environment. When the child clearly knows what his/her goal is, he/she will be able to understand how and when to achieve that goal.

When parents allow their child to take their own decisions, it helps the child understand what is more important. For example, let the child choose whether he/she wants to do his/her homework first or play. Give him/her a chance to choose which vegetable he/she wants to eat for lunch. By presenting options to your child, you can develop and strengthen his/her decision-making abilities.

To make the child responsible, ask him/her what work he/she likes to do. Give some work to the child according to his/her age like watering the plants or cleaning the house etc. This will increase the child’s self-confidence and he/she will start taking his/her own decisions.
