Jammu Kashmir Election 2024: Despite bumper voting in Jammu and Kashmir, the record of 2014 was not broken, know how much voting took place in the third phase.

New Delhi : In Jammu and Kashmir, which has 90 assembly seats, the third phase of voting on October 1 was also completed peacefully without any bloodshed. With this the voting work in Jammu and Kashmir was also completed. Now counting of votes will take place on October 8. In these elections, the votes cast for the third phase broke the records of the first two phases. But the overall voting turnout was less than the 2014 assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Voting took place on 40 assembly seats today

The final third phase of voting took place on Tuesday for the remaining 40 assembly seats in seven districts in Jammu and Kashmir. If we look at the figures of the Election Commission, 65.48 percent voting took place till 5 pm. Whereas in the first phase of voting for 24 seats, 61.38 percent votes were cast and in the second phase of voting for 26 seats, 57.31 percent votes were cast. In this context, till the time of writing the news, the voting turnout in all three phases has crossed 61 percent. But in the 2014 assembly elections held in Jammu and Kashmir, 65.23 votes were cast. Accordingly, very few votes were cast in the 2024 assembly elections.

The Election Commission has expressed happiness over the peaceful voting. In this last third phase, out of seven districts, maximum 72.91 percent votes were cast in Udhampur district. Voting turnout was more than 70 percent in all four assembly seats of this district and all three assembly seats of Samba district. Whereas the lowest 55.73 percent votes were cast in Baramulla district.

However, Udhampur district remained on top as it had the highest turnout. But if we talk about assembly seats, maximum 77.35 percent votes were cast in Chamba seat of Jammu district. Akhnoor and Marah seats of this district also got the maximum votes. Where 76.28 and 76.10 percent votes were cast respectively. Whereas, Supur seat of Baramulla district was among the seats which got the least votes. Where only 41.44 percent votes were cast. Baramulla seat of this district was at second place. 47.95 percent votes were cast here

The strategy of Election Commission and security agencies was successful

Before the announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, terrorist attacks were happening every day. In view of that, holding elections here seemed quite challenging. But the strategy of various security and intelligence agencies of the country including the Election Commission, Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, BSF and CRPF was successful. In which the Union Home Ministry played an important role. Sources said that such a strategy was made for the elections. In which there was very little possibility of bloodshed during the elections. The result is in front of everyone. All three phases of elections were conducted smoothly without a single bullet being fired and not a single drop of blood being shed.
