Is joining BRICS the reason?
Turkey knows that India’s stand on Kashmir is clear. It will not compromise on Kashmir at any cost. Not only this, it is clear from the statements of India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar that there is a plan to take back POK, which Pakistan calls Azad Kashmir. Turkey’s not raising the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly is also to please India. You will think what will Turkey get by pleasing India? The direct answer to this is entry into BRICS.

Like other countries, Turkey also wants to join BRICS. India is also included in it. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan knows very well that if he/she wants to become a member of BRICS, he/she will have to keep India happy. This is because Turkey can get entry in BRICS only after India’s approval. Turkey also knows that if India refuses, it will be difficult for it to become a part of BRICS.
