What is MQ-9B and why is it in high demand

No country gets permission for this drone easily

Predator drones are used by the armies of Italy, Israel and Turkey. This drone moves at a high speed with an engine of 950 shaft horsepower (712 kW). According to the US firm, the Predator drone or Reaper is primarily designed for multi-mission intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance on land or sea.

Can fly continuously in the sky for 40 hours

This Predator drone can fly continuously in the sky for 40 hours. It can reach a speed of 442 kilometers at a time. It can attack its prey like an eagle. Its 66 feet long wings make it extremely deadly in the sky.

Can drop 1700 kg bombs and missiles

There are two versions of the MQ-9B Predator drone. One is Sky Guardian and the other is Sea Guardian which monitors the sea. It can carry bombs and missiles weighing up to 1,746 kg. The missiles fitted in it are so accurate that it can destroy enemies hiding even in the jungle. It can destroy high altitude targets on land. It can strike at great depths in the sea.

The Predator drone is fitted with an infrared camera, which easily detects enemies hiding in dense forests. It is capable of finding missing people even during hurricanes. Deal for 31 MQ-9B Predator drones between India and America

A deal worth Rs 25,887 crore (3.9 billion dollars) was signed between India and America. Under this, America will give 31 high altitude long endurance drones to India. In this, the Indian Army and Air Force will get 8-8 Sky Guardian drones each and the Indian Navy will get 15 Sea Guardian drones.
