On Thursday, the current government of Andhra Pradesh said that during the tenure of the previous government, animal fat was found in Tirupati laddus. The report of the National Dairy Development Board was also shown for this claim.

According to media reports, 400-500 kg of Desi Ghee, 750 kg of cashew nuts, 500 kg of raisins, 200 kg of cardamom along with gram flour, sugar etc. are used to make the prasad laddu. The report claims that the Desi Ghee being used in this recipe was adulterated with the fat of 3 animals.

The lab report has been shared by the state government. In which it has been claimed that there are many vegetable fats and animal fats in the ghee used in laddus. In this, fats from soybean, sunflower, olive, rapeseed, linseed, wheat germ, maize germ, cotton seed, coconut, palm kernel, palm oil along with beef tallow, lard and fish oil animal fats have been found.

  3. Identification of vegetable oil in desi ghee- By adding diluted supluric acid to 1 spoon of ghee and stirring it, it gives a deep red color.
  4. Identification of vegetable oil in ghee- By melting some ghee, adding sugar and stirring well, the colour becomes red.
