he/she dropped my son from the team, uproar in Pakistan cricket

Karachi. Former Pakistan Test captain Moin Khan has said that the way Azam Khan was treated in the last few years has hurt his/her son’s confidence. The former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman has blamed former PCB president Rameez Raja for the damage to his/her son’s career. Moin said that after watching all the matches played by Pakistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup in the US, he/she can confidently say that his/her son is best suited for the role of wicketkeeper-batsman.

Moeen Khan said, ‘I watched the entire World Cup and the matches before that and it seemed that Azam Khan was the first choice for wicketkeeping and batting. Then suddenly the entire strategy was changed after just one match.’ Azam has had to face the anger of fans regarding fitness. In the team’s opening match against America in the World Cup, he/she was out on the first ball without opening his/her account. After this he/she was dropped from the match against India.

Azam was removed from wicketkeeping after one match
Moeen, who has scored more than 6000 runs in international cricket, said, ‘Azam was not given a chance to wicketkeep after one match and was dropped after getting out on the very first ball (against America). Any player can get out on the first ball, but the tradition of developing players that used to be here is no longer there. Be it the captain or the management, if they keep changing players so frequently, then how can we prepare good players?’

Moeen blamed Rameez Raja
Moeen blamed Rameez for his/her son’s troubles, saying that as soon as the former cricketer took over as PCB chairman, he/she dropped Azam from the 2021 T20 World Cup squad. Moeen said, ‘If the chief selector had made the wrong selection at that time, he/she should have been removed, but he/she did not have the courage and as a result, he/she demoralized a young player.’ Moeen, however, admitted that Azam has some flaws and he/she is working hard to improve his/her fitness.

‘Azam also has his/her shortcomings’
According to Moeen Khan, ‘I am not saying that all the blame lies with the team management and the captain. Azam also has his/her shortcomings. he/she needs to make himself physically and mentally strong. he/she has to follow the fitness routine of other players.’ Moeen said that his/her son is working hard to improve his/her fitness. he/she said, ‘For the last one month, I have seen that he/she is working hard to improve his/her fitness with his/her trainer Shahzar Mohammad. he/she has also taken him/her to the Caribbean League. I hope Azam has learned a lot from this experience.’
