Is this a new game of human smuggling? A bag full of Bangladeshi passports found in the river on the border

New Delhi: A new case of human trafficking has come to light on the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. Security agencies are also on alert due to this first case. Security agencies including BSF suspect that human trafficking of Bangladeshis to India or other countries is being done on a large scale through this medium. Its strings seem to be connected to West Bengal of India.There were 43 Bangladeshi passports and 6 clearance certificates in the bag
The matter was revealed from the bag which was caught by the BSF jawans posted on the border from the Sonai river. This bag contained 43 Bangladeshi passports and 6 clearance certificates issued by Bangladesh Police. According to BSF officials, the information of the case came to light at around 12 o’clock on Friday-Saturday night, when the BSF boat patrolling party saw a suspicious white bag floating on the Sonai river. When the patrolling team reached near it on suspicion, an attempt was being made to pull the bag towards Bangladesh with a rope. The patrolling team immediately seized the bag and brought it to Tarali-1 post located in North 24 Parganas area and opened it.

The bag contained Bangladeshi passports, police clearance certificates and some other items. After investigation, all the passports appear to be genuine. All the 6 police clearance certificates were also issued to Croatia by Bangladesh Police. At present, their authenticity is being investigated.

Intelligence agencies are on alert, police is also investigating
Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the intelligence agencies of the country including the Union Home Ministry have also been informed about it. They are trying to find out what was being tried to be achieved through the Bangladeshi passports being sent from India to Bangladesh. Sources say that some of these passports had visa stamping for different countries. It is suspected that this joint international racket of Bangladesh and West Bengal is working to settle Bangladeshis in India or other countries to go abroad. The local police is also investigating the matter.
