Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri rejected Oxford’s invitation to debate on Kashmir, said – this is anti-India

Vivek Ranjan Aghenhotri has made his/her mark as a filmmaker who is known for fearlessly filming the social and political issues related to the country. In his/her film ‘The Kashmir Files’, he/she showed the story of the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir and with this, he/she drew the attention of millions of people towards this issue. Along with this film, Vivek Ranjan also received a lot of appreciation. During the promotion of this film, he/she spoke openly on the Kashmir issue. he/she also raised the issue of his/her film and Kashmir on social media. Now Oxford Union invited him/her for a discussion on Kashmir, but here he/she took a step back.

Yes, there is news that Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri was invited by Oxford Union, where he/she refused to go. However, it is said that he/she rejected the invitation considering the topic to be against India and Kashmir. After saying no to Oxford Union’s invitation for a debate on Kashmir, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has also shared a glimpse of it on social media.

While posting this, he/she wrote, ‘I was invited by the prestigious Oxford Union for a debate on Kashmir. I found the topic of the debate objectionable, anti-India and anti-Kashmir. On principle, I have declined this invitation.’

Vivek has shared a copy of the invitation he/she received and has also posted his/her reply. In response to the invitation sent by Oxford Union, Vivek has written, ‘The story of Kashmir is not a subject of debate, it is a story of suffering and pain, it is a story of the search for peace. Answering it only in yes or no on independence is to ignore the complex story of human emotions and history involved in it. The genocide of Kashmiri Hindus is a story where the price has been paid with blood, not with funny answers or applause from the audience.’

‘Debates are not meant to reopen wounds for the sake of intellectual sport’

In his/her response, Vivek also said, ‘My decision is not just a no, it is a call for the Oxford Union to step into the 21st century, where debates are about progress, not reopening wounds for intellectual games. A heart full of India and an open mind for meaningful conversations.’

Vivek is coming with his/her next film ‘The Delhi Files’
