Joe Root’s speed is scaring Sachin’s fans, if it continues like this then Master Blaster’s big record will be broken

New Delhi. Whenever it comes to records in cricket, the first name that comes to mind is Sachin Tendulkar. No one comes even close to Sachin Tendulkar’s records of 100 centuries and most runs. But his/her record of most runs in a Test match does not look very safe. It seems that England’s Joe Root is after this record.

Joe Root played a brilliant innings of 143 runs in the second Test match against Sri Lanka. he/she hit 18 fours in his/her 206-ball innings. This is Joe Root’s 33rd century. With this, he/she has become the active cricketer to score the most centuries in Test matches. Among active cricketers, Steven Smith and Kane Williamson are at the joint second position with 32 centuries each. Virat Kohli (29) is at the fourth position. Overall, Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most 51 Test centuries. There are 8 cricketers between Sachin and Joe Root. Joe Root can soon leave behind four of these cricketers – Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara, Younis Khan and Mahela Jayawardene. All four have scored 34 Test centuries each.

Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test centuries still seems out of reach for Joe Root. But his/her record of most runs is not far away. Sachin Tendulkar has scored 15921 runs in 200 Test matches. Joe Root has scored 12274 runs in 145 Test matches. Sachin used to score runs at an average of 53.78 and Joe Root is scoring runs at an average of 50.71.

Joe Root is currently 3647 runs behind Sachin. If Joe Root scores runs at the current average, he/she will have to play at least 72 innings for this. Joe Root, who has been playing Test matches since 2012, has played 262 innings in 12 years. he/she is currently 33 years old. If he/she stays fit, he/she will play about 40 Tests and 70-80 innings in the next 4 years. In such a situation, it is not a big deal if Joe Root comes close to the runs of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar or even surpasses him/her.

If we look at the recent history of Joe Root, he/she has played 48 Test matches after January 1, 2021. he/she has scored 4451 runs in these matches at an average of 56.34. These include 16 centuries.
