Monkeypox alert after Covid! WHO declared it a health emergency, know how much danger it poses to India

WHO declared a global emergency

According to the information, after Covid, any kind of public health emergency regarding any type of virus is not being taken lightly by the World Health Organization (WHO). Recently, WHO has declared a global emergency regarding monkeypox, after which there has been a stir in India regarding this as well. However, a public health emergency was also declared regarding this virus in 2022, but this time there is more concern because mutation, i.e. change, is being reported in the virus. There is a high risk of death in infection of this mutation. However, it is a matter of relief for India that till now not a single case of infection of this virus has been reported.

How does infection occur

Its infection does not spread through air like Covid, but by coming in contact with an infected patient. Ampox also belongs to the chickenpox and smallpox family, which spreads from human to human. It is a DNA virus, whose size is usually bigger than other viruses. It does not spread from air to air. It spreads by coming in contact with the patient, by contact with the water of the infected person’s rash or boil and through sexual relations. According to the information, Safdarjung Hospital has been made its dedicated center. If a positive patient is identified at the airport, he/she will be sent to Safdarjung for treatment. Here doctors have been trained and a special ward has been prepared. According to AIIMS, AB7 has been made a holding area, where 5 beds have been reserved for the isolation of suspected patients.

Isolation wards will be built in three hospitals

The Delhi government has directed its three hospitals to create isolation rooms for the treatment and management of suspected and confirmed monkeypox patients. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. They also said that no patient has been found here so far. According to the information, three Delhi government hospitals LNJP, GTB and Baba Saheb Ambedkar have been instructed to create isolation rooms for suspected and confirmed patients of this disease. While LNJP has been made the nodal center. In support of this, the other two hospitals have been kept on standby mode. A total of 20 isolation beds have been reserved for this infection in LNJP. 10 have been kept for confirmed patients. GTB Hospital and Baba Saheb Ambedkar have 10-10 beds for such patients. Out of which 5-5 beds will be for suspected cases.

Why worry about monkeypox?

Our concern about monkeypox has increased because this virus has been confirmed in our neighboring country Pakistan. Which may be the reason for the spread of infection somewhere. This time changes are also being seen in the virus, the new variant that is spreading is more deadly than before. This is the clade 1b sub-variant, which was first identified in September last year. So far this virus has killed more than 500 people in Congo. A case has also been registered in Pakistan. At the same time, according to the information so far, monkeypox is having the most effect on children. According to the report, 70 percent of the total cases of infection are being seen in children and their death rate is also high.
