Raids on the premises of six top NCL officials, 5 arrested so far, know the main points of CBI action

New Delhi : The CBI has taken major action against the allegations of corruption from top to bottom level in Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) located in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. So far five accused have been arrested in this case. Raids are being conducted at the hideouts of six top NCL officials. The serious thing is that a CBI official was also found to be involved in suppressing this case of corruption. In this case, suspicion is also on NCL’s Chief Vigilance Officer, former CMD, DGM, Director and two managers. Raids are being conducted at their places.

Why did the CBI conduct the raid?

A CBI official said that a complaint was received in the case that corruption was taking place on a large scale from top to bottom level in Singrauli based NCL. CBI laid a trap and started the action. In this action so far, NCL CMD’s personal secretary and manager (secretariat) Subedar Ojha, manager admin retired Lieutenant Colonel Basant Kumar Singh and CBI’s Jabalpur ACB deputy SP Joy Joseph Damle, besides middleman and Sangam Engineering Company director Ravi Shankar Singh and his/her partner Divesh Singh have been arrested.

Action in Madhya Pradesh Northern Coalfields Limited

In this, CBI raided the house of CMD’s personal secretary Ojha on 17th August. CBI recovered Rs. 3.85 crores from there. Earlier, when CBI reached Ojha’s house, he/she closed the gate of his/her house on seeing the CBI team and started throwing the money hidden in the house at the neighbor’s house. Somehow the CBI team reached inside and arrested him/her with crores of rupees.

CBI made shocking claims

CBI claims that Ravi Shankar Singh, arrested in the case, worked as a middleman. he/she allegedly made top-level arrangements between NCL and various contractors, businessmen and companies benefiting from NCL. In which bribes worth lakhs and crores of rupees were exchanged. In which Ravi Shankar often played the role of a middleman. CBI arrested Ravi Shankar in this case. While his/her associate Divesh Singh was caught red-handed when he/she was allegedly giving a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to CBI Deputy SP Joy Joseph Damle. Here, along with Divesh Singh, this CBI officer was also arrested. This CBI officer is accused of allegedly taking bribe in exchange for suppressing the complaints received against NCL officers and preparing a report in their favour.

Raid at the residence of six officers including CVO

It is alleged that on the instructions of Ravi Shankar, Ravi’s employee Ajay Verma allegedly took Rs 5 lakh from NCL manager and retired Lieutenant Colonel Basant Kumar Singh on August 16. This bribe amount was allegedly sent by CMD’s personal secretary Subedar Ojha. On August 17, Ravi Shankar Singh ordered Divesh Singh to give this amount to the CBI Deputy SP in ACB Jabalpur.

Raids on 25 locations including Noida, Meerut, Ranchi

In this case, CBI is conducting raids at 25 locations in Singrauli, Jabalpur, Noida as well as Meerut, Ranchi and Nagpur. CBI has recovered crores of rupees, digital devices and many other documents from here. CBI sources said that in this case, raids are also being conducted at the locations of former NCL CMD Bhola Singh, current Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Ravindra Kumar Prasad, DGM Dhananjay, Director (Technical, Project and Planning) Sunil Prasad Singh and two managers Kundan Chaudhary and Nitish Kumar. The role of all these officers is also suspicious. On the basis of which CBI is conducting raids to take action against them as well. Sources say that more top NCL officials may come under the grip of CBI in this case.
