Former coach Shastri gave a befitting reply to Ponting, said- India will defeat us again this time

Dubai. Whenever the Indian cricket team plays against Australia, the former cricketers start creating an atmosphere before that. India’s former head coach Ravi Shastri has hit back at the statement of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. The Indian team has captured the Border Gavaskar Trophy and Shastri feels that the team is capable of achieving a hat-trick in Australia by winning the series once again with its excellent bowling along with a strong batting line-up like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

India has retained the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy by winning the last two Test series in Australia. Australia won the home series 2-0 in early 2015. Shastri told the ICC, “Jasprit Bumrah is fit, Mohammad Shami is fit, you also have Mohammad Siraj. You have players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and some good ‘bench strength’. We are eager for this series to start and I think the Indian team can score a hat-trick of series wins in Australia.

Australia’s legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting recently predicted that his/her country would win the series 3-1. Shastri said that the Indian bowlers can do their job well provided their batsmen are ready for the challenge. Shastri said, “This is going to be a great series and India has every chance to make a hat-trick because their bowlers are fit. If they can bat well, they can beat Australia once again.”

India will play a five-match series in Australia this year, starting with a Test match in Perth. The Pat Cummins-led Australian team is excited for this series after taking revenge from Rohit Sharma’s team during the World Test Championship final at ‘The Oval’ last year. Shastri feels that the home team will be desperate to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
