Ranbir had a panic attack on the night of Rishi Kapoor’s death, said this about the distance from his/her father

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor opened up about the last days with his/her father Rishi Kapoor. he/she told how the two had come closer to each other after years of ‘distant’ relationship. Ranbir recalled the day he/she was told that Rishi could pass away anytime, he/she had a panic attack in the hospital. Rishi Kapoor breathed his/her last in April 2020 after a battle with cancer. In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir talked about his/her childhood and said that he/she ‘loved’ his/her father, but his/her relationship with him/her was ‘distant and nothing special’. Ranbir Kapoor said, ‘I stopped crying very quickly. Even when Papa passed away, I did not cry. When I was in the hospital, the doctor told me that this is his/her last night, he/she will leave soon. I remember I went to the room and I got a panic attack. I did not know how to express myself. There was so much happening that I couldn’t handle it. But I don’t think I mourned his/her departure. Rather, I understood the loss.

Rishi Kapoor came to Ranbir Kapoor and started crying

Ranbir and Rishi did not share a good relationship. But now he/she says that he/she feels guilty that he/she could not bridge the gap. ‘When he/she was undergoing treatment, we spent a year together in New York. he/she would often talk about it. I stayed there for 45 days. And one day he/she came and started crying. he/she had never been so vulnerable in front of me. It was very strange for me because I did not know if I should hold him/her or hug him/her. I really felt the distance between us. I feel guilty that I did not have the courage to bridge the gap between us and hug him/her. Give him/her some love.’

Ranbir Kapoor did not show weakness due to responsibility

Ranbir Kapoor further said that a person is brought up in a special way. ‘Where you are told that you have now become a responsible person. Then the same things start going around in the mind. I have a mother, sister, wife, a daughter. And father also passed away. Now amidst so many responsibilities, can I show myself weak? I don’t know what all this is, but I did not show my weakness.’ At the same time, sister Riddhima had said that how after the death of Rajiv Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor in a year, the scattered family has come closer and everyone has started taking more care of each other.
