Pakistan Board said, there is no question of considering any series with India

Karachi. Fans are eager to watch cricket matches between India and Pakistan. Both the teams are going to face each other once again in the ICC tournament but there is no possibility of a bilateral series. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified on Monday that it has not made any proposal to play a T20 series against India abroad and its focus is on the smooth conduct of the Champions Trophy.

There are talks that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is in talks with officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the possibility of a T20 series at a foreign venue in England or Australia. “No such proposal is under consideration. The biggest challenge for us right now is to organise the Champions Trophy in a proper manner and we have a very busy international schedule,” said a reliable source.

The source said that the two main goals of the PCB in the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Colombo were to get the budget for the Champions Trophy approved. It was to get assurance from the ICC and BCCI that India will send its team to Pakistan to play in this tournament. The source said, “This is our main agenda at the moment. Therefore, there is no question of considering any bilateral series with India.”

India has suspended bilateral series with Pakistan since 2012 when Pakistan toured India for a brief limited-overs series. The two countries have also not played a Test series since Pakistan’s tour of India in 2007. Even India’s participation in the Champions Trophy remains uncertain as there is speculation that Team India wants to play its matches outside Pakistan.
