Trailers become superhits but films flop at the box office, know the complete math

Before the release of a film, its producers and PR machinery make all kinds of claims about it. People associated with the film also present all kinds of statistics to declare it a superhit even before its release. For example, the craze among people for Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Sarfira’, which was released last week, was shown by the bumper views its trailer received. So far, about 7 crore 90 lakh people have watched the trailer of this film. It was being said that the huge number of views the trailer of ‘Sarfira’ is getting shows that people are very excited to watch this film. But in the first week after the release of the film, it earned just less than Rs 20 crore.

In this way, ‘Sarfira’ has joined the list of Akshay Kumar’s films which have not done much at the box office, who have been giving flop films for a long time. In such a situation, the big question is that why did the crores of people who saw the trailer not reach the cinema to see this film or was the number of crores of people who saw the trailer not correct? If we believe the experts of the film world, then the bumper views received by the trailer of a film cannot be considered a guarantee of its being a hit. This can be said not only by looking at ‘Sarfira’ but also by looking at the fate of all the other big films released this year.

It is not a big deal for people to watch the trailer when it is released

Actually, people do not have to spend anything to watch the trailer of a film. Moreover, nowadays everyone has a multimedia mobile in their hands. In such a situation, it is common for people to watch the trailer of a new film when it is released. Apart from this, the marketing team of the films promotes things related to their film on social media. Due to this, people see the trailer of the film on social media platforms or the trailer plays in between while watching something else. Watching a film in the cinema is a far-fetched idea. Most people watch the trailer of a film completely only if they like it. Otherwise, they stop it in the middle.

Trailer of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

If we look at other big films released this year, their trailers also got decent views. But after their release in theatres, the result of their box office earnings was zero. For example, the trailer of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan released on Eid got 5 crore 30 lakh views, while the trailer of Maidan released opposite it got 3 crore 80 lakh views. At the same time, the trailer of Kartik Aryan’s film ‘Chandu Champion’ got 4 crore 40 lakh views. But all these three films did not perform well and could barely cross the 50 crore earning mark. That is, it would not be wrong to say that if the trailer is a superhit, then it is not a guarantee of the film being a hit.
