M-4 carbine used in Jammu terror attack, how did terrorists get American weapons?

New Delhi: In the recent terror attacks in Jammu, terrorists used the M-4 carbine. The M-4 carbine is US made and is used extensively by NATO soldiers. In 2021, when the Taliban took over Afghanistan and the US soldiers went back, they left a large number of weapons there. Just a year after this, it was revealed that these weapons were reaching Pakistani terrorists from Afghanistan. After the year 2022, incidents of terrorists using M-4 increased and since then the security agencies were alert. At that time, the security forces were trying to ensure that these weapons did not reach the terrorists and they were not trained in the use of these weapons. But the way the M-4 carbine has been used in the recent terror attacks in Jammu, it has become clear that the terrorists not only have these weapons but they have also become trained in it.

What is special about M-4 carbine?

According to an officer posted in Jammu and Kashmir, it was first revealed in 2017 that terrorists have M-4 carbines. But then they probably had it in limited numbers. After 2022, terrorists got it in large numbers. The range of M-4 carbine is about 600 meters and it is used in close encounters. This American carbine was designed in the 1980s. Terrorists are using steel core bullets in it. According to an officer, steel core bullets easily penetrate vehicles.
