Now the country will celebrate Constitution Assassination Day on 25 June, the central government has issued a notification


New Delhi : The central government has taken a big decision regarding the emergency. The government has now decided to celebrate the day of emergency in the country as Constitution Hatya Diwas. The central government has described the emergency imposed in the country on 25 June 1975 as the day that strangled the soul of democracy. The government says that this day will remind us of the contribution of those who have suffered the inhuman pain of the emergency of 1975. Union Minister Amit Shah gave this information by tweeting.

The Union Home Minister wrote in his/her tweet, on 25 June 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, showing her dictatorial mindset, strangled the soul of Indian democracy by imposing emergency in the country. Lakhs of people were jailed without any reason and the voice of the media was suppressed. The Government of India has decided to celebrate 25 June every year as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’. This day will remind us of the immense contribution of all those people who suffered the inhuman pain of the Emergency of 1975.

The government issued the gazette

Amit Shah has also posted a copy of the gazette notification issued by the central government along with his/her X post. The gazette mentions the notification issued by the Home Ministry on July 11. It says that while the Emergency was declared on June 25, 1975, thereafter, the then government committed gross misuse of power and excesses and atrocities were committed on the people of India.

And whereas, the people of India have firm faith in the Constitution of India and Indian democracy; therefore, the Government of India has declared 25th June as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ to pay tribute to all those who faced and fought against the blatant abuse of power during the period of Emergency and recommits the people of India to not support the blatant abuse of power in any manner, in future.
