Mythological stories have always fascinated humans, and they have always wanted to get a glimpse of the future. The film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ released this week shows a glimpse of the world from the mysteries of the past to the world of the future. The film’s director Nag Ashwin has tried to show the journey of about six thousand years through this film through the last incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Kalki. Due to the presence of big stars in the film, the theatres also came alive after a long time.

What is the story of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’

The film begins with the Mahabharata war, when Dronacharya’s son Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) used Brahmastra on Abhimanyu’s wife Uttara’s womb to destroy the Pandavas’ lineage. Lord Krishna cursed him/her that he/she would yearn for death. Ashwatthama asked for atonement, and Krishna said that after thousands of years you will protect my incarnation. Then the story moves on to 2898 AD, about 6 thousand years later. In a world that has reached a worse condition, common people are yearning for air and water. The river Ganga has dried up and people are surviving by wearing oxygen masks. Kashi, said to be the first city in the world, is the last surviving city in this horrific environment, which is ruled by the 200-year-old Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan).

Common people have to pay a hefty amount to enter the world of Yaskin, called Complex. Bhairav (Prabhas) is one of the many people who dream of entering the complex. However, despite many efforts, he/she is unable to succeed in his/her aim. Supreme Yaskin’s commander Manas (Shashwat Chatterjee) is running Project K for his/her boss. Sumati (Deepika Padukone) is one of the subjects of Project K. One day something happens that Sumati escapes from the captivity of evil forces. On the other hand, Ashwatthama, who has been waiting for thousands of years, also realizes that now the time has come for him/her to wake up. What happens next? To know this, you will have to go to the cinema.

How is the movie ‘Kalki 2898 AD’

The film’s director Nag Ashwin has also written its story and screenplay. The film begins with a dark world. In the first hour, the director introduces the characters. During this time, the film does not entertain the audience and feels boring. But before the interval, the story definitely takes an interesting turn.

After the interval, it comes into full swing. While the climax of the film is also amazing. Overall, this film gives you a glimpse of Hollywood in Indian cinema. Despite this, the length of this nearly three-hour long film could have been tightened further on the editing table. As per the earlier announcement, Nag Ashwin has ended the film on a very exciting note and the further story will be shown in the next films of Kalki Cinematic Universe.

acting of actors

Talking about acting, Prabhas is perfect in his/her role. Especially after the interval, he/she is in full form. Amitabh Bachchan has also acted brilliantly. Especially the fight scenes between him/her and Prabhas have turned out to be great. Deepika Padukone has looked great in her role, while Kamal Haasan has looked great despite getting fewer scenes. The rest of the actors have also done a good job as per the requirement. The background score, cinematography and VFX of the film are also amazing. But the absence of even a single good song in such a big budget film disappoints you.

Why watch ‘Kalki 2898 AD’- If you like watching offbeat movies and are a fan of Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, then you can book a ticket for this movie.
