We kept waiting in June… Rainfall decreased by 19% in the country, when will the monsoon finally bring heavy rains

New Delhi: The month of June is about to end but people are still waiting for monsoon rains in many places. Due to the slow pace of monsoon in the month of June, many states have received less rainfall. So far in the month of June, the country has received 19% less rainfall. Due to the slow pace of southwest monsoon in Jharkhand, there has been 67% less rainfall in June so far, while more than 80% reduction has been recorded in five districts of the state. The situation is similar in Punjab and Bengal. Many states including UP and Bihar have received less rainfall in the month of June. This year, the monsoon entered before time but its speed slowed down after that.

IMD changed the forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted normal rainfall for India this month. But on June 18, the IMD changed its forecast to ‘below normal’. This means that the country received below average rainfall this month.

Why did the estimate change?

Director General of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that weather conditions keep changing, so IMD keeps updating the forecast continuously. he/she said that heavy rains were expected in southern India and northeastern states and some less rain in north-west India, but the monsoon slowed down in the eastern states due to the weakening of the Bay of Bengal current.Where did the rain decrease
➤ Till June 25, there has been 19% less rainfall in India.
➤ North-west India has received the maximum rainfall deficit of 57%.
➤ Eastern and north-eastern India have received 16% less rainfall.
➤ There has been 23% less rainfall in Central India.

Rain expected soon in North India
IMD believes that there will be more than normal rainfall from July to September. According to the Meteorological Department, the pace of monsoon has increased. Rain has started in many places and good rain is expected in the coming days. According to the new forecast, monsoon can reach most of the northern states like Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana in the next 3-4 days.
