Bangalore. Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to former India pacer and teammate David Johnson, calling him/her a man who had a “funny heart”. The cricketing God said that he/she “never gave up on the field”. Johnson died on Thursday. Johnson, 52, who played two Tests for India in 1996, died after falling from the fourth floor balcony of his/her apartment here. Local police have said that investigation is on to find out if it was a case of suicide.

Sachin Tendulkar wrote on Instagram, ‘Deeply saddened by the demise of my former teammate David Johnson. he/she was a jovial person and never gave up on the field. My condolences are with his/her friends and family.’ Former India bowler and Johnson’s state teammate Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble also paid tribute to him/her on social media. Prasad wrote, ‘Shocked and saddened to hear the news of David Johnson’s death. Heartfelt condolences to his/her family and loved ones. Om Shanti.’
