Anurag Thakur, counted among the best performing ministers, why did he/she not get a place in Modi cabinet this time, inside story

New Delhi : Anurag Thakur, one of the star performers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term, is not getting a place in the Council of Ministers this time. he/she has congratulated PM Modi and all the ministers to be made. Thakur, who has been winning the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat of Himachal for 5 consecutive times, has had a very bright political career so far. While being the President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, he/she proved his/her leadership ability. his/her tenure was excellent. In January 2019, he/she became the first BJP MP to be awarded the Sansad Ratna. PM Modi made Thakur a part of the Union Council of Ministers in his/her second term. Started as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Promotion happened in 2021. Became Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting along with Sports and Youth Affairs. he/she was the star performer minister of the Modi government. Despite this, what is the reason for him/her not being able to become a part of the Modi cabinet this time, let us understand. Anurag Thakur comes from Himachal Pradesh. he/she became an MP for the first time by winning the 2008 by-election from the Hamirpur parliamentary seat and is undefeated till now. After the 2008 by-election, he/she won this seat in the 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This time he/she defeated Satpal Raizada of Congress by a margin of more than 1 lakh 82 thousand votes. It was believed that he/she would become a minister at the Center from Himachal Pradesh, which has 4 Lok Sabha seats, but a hitch got stuck. Actually, the term of BJP National President JP Nadda is ending on June 30. Nadda’s name is also in the list of potential ministers. Although he/she is a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, but he/she is a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Now having 2-2 ministers from a small state like Himachal can disturb the regional balance. Therefore Thakur was dropped. In PM Modi’s first term, JP Nadda was a part of his/her cabinet and was then the only Union Minister from Himachal.

Not only Anurag Thakur, Smriti Irani, a popular face of the previous government, is also missing from the list of ministers this time. PM Modi made Irani a minister even after she lost the election from Amethi in 2014. In 2019, she defeated Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, which was considered the impregnable fort of the Gandhi family. After the victory, PM Modi made Irani a minister in the second term as well. This time Irani had to face defeat at the hands of Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi. Rahul Gandhi has won from Rae Bareli, the seat next to Amethi, from where Sonia Gandhi has been winning. Now Rahul will be seen in the Lok Sabha as the Leader of the Opposition. It was believed that just as Irani got a place in the Modi cabinet despite losing in 2014, she may get a place this time too. But this does not seem to be happening. The reason behind this is believed that ministers who have lost the election may get important responsibilities in the organization. Whether it is Anurag Thakur or Smriti Irani, RK Singh or Sanjeev Baliyan or Nishith Pramanik, those ministers of Modi 2.0 government who have lost the elections, can be given important responsibilities in the organization. Anurag Thakur has demonstrated his/her organizational ability while being the president of BJP Yuva Morcha, so this time he/she can be given a big responsibility in the organization.
