Why did the MP who made lotus bloom for the first time in Kerala say, I will not say anything!

New Delhi: Suresh Gopi, the newly elected BJP MP who made the lotus bloom for the first time in Kerala, reached Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of PM Narendra Modi. Talking to the media, he/she said, ‘I will speak after the swearing-in ceremony.’ While answering questions from reporters on reaching Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Gopi said that Modi has asked him/her to reach Delhi immediately. This statement of Suresh Gopi has led to speculations in political circles. Different meanings are being drawn from this statement. Suresh Gopi is the winner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Thrissur in Kerala, who helped the party open its Lok Sabha account in the southern state.

In the Lok Sabha elections, Gopi defeated his/her nearest rival and Communist Party of India’s (CPI) V S Sunil Kumar in a thrilling contest. According to data available on the Election Commission website, Gopi got 4,12,338 votes while Kumar got 3,37,652 votes. Senior Congress leader K. Muralidharan came third with 3,28,124 votes.

Will Suresh Gopi become a minister?

Actor-turned-politician and newly elected MP from Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency Suresh Gopi said he/she has no idea right now about what role he/she will be given in the new NDA government. “I am following the orders of my Prime Minister and Home Minister – my national leaders,” he/she said. Gopi also said, “The celebrations must go on.” “It is a people’s festival, so there can be no hindrance or difference of opinion,” the Lok Sabha member said. On Thursday, Gopi had said he/she did not want to become a minister and only wanted ministries to implement the projects proposed by him/her for the welfare of the people of Kerala. On Sunday, he/she reiterated what he/she had said earlier – he/she would work as an MP for Kerala and neighbouring Tamil Nadu as well.
