Now CPR training will be given in every college, UGC issued instructions for this big reason

CPR training in universities: The increasing cases of sudden cardiac arrest or sudden death among people of all ages, including the youth, are a big concern. A person who is laughing, singing, playing and looking normal suddenly falls down and dies. The Union Health Ministry recently started a campaign to provide training in CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on a large scale to save the life of the patient in case of cardiac arrest. This campaign was run in all institutions including medical and educational institutions.

What did UGC say?

Now UGC has asked the principals of all the universities and colleges of the country that with the help of doctors and medical fraternity, all the students, faculty and staff should be given training in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Giving statistics, UGC has said that only 0.1% people in the country have knowledge of BLS technology. Now this training should be included on a large scale in the education sector. The more people get this training, the more lives it will be possible to save.

Cardiac Arrest: 3 to 10 minutes are extremely important

Earlier, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya had also taken CPR training and appealed to the people that everyone should take this training. The Health Ministry is also helping organizations in this campaign.

Experts say that in case of cardiac arrest, the time of 3 to 10 minutes is very crucial. A study has revealed that about one million people die every year in the country due to cardiac arrest alone. If a trained person tries to save the life of the victim, then about three and a half lakh lives can be saved.

What is CPR?

In CPR, a special technique is used to put pressure on the heart muscles to keep the sick person alive before taking him/her to the hospital. When cardiac arrest occurs, the heart cannot pump blood to the rest of the body, including the brain and lungs. In such a situation, this technique can save the patient’s life.
