‘Jaiswal bats fearlessly, Shivam Dubey is the trump card’

New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team batsman Suresh Raina feels that only the team that plays fearlessly will win the T20 World Cup. Raina said that the Indian team’s chances of winning the title will increase further when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dubey will be together in the playing eleven. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will be seen playing in the T20 World Cup for the first time. he/she is the youngest player in the 15-member World Cup squad. The T20 World Cup will be held in the US and West Indies from June 2. The Indian team has started practice after reaching the US.

Suresh Raina said that both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube should get a place in the playing eleven. But for this the captain will have to take some tough decisions. According to Raina, ‘I would like Jaiswal to be in the team. Virat Kohli should play at number three. The pitches there will be slow, so you will need a batsman who can run and steal runs. Kohli calls Virat ‘run machine’ and ‘chase master’. The team has batsmen like Rishabh Pant and Shivam Dube who can play big shots for the last overs.’

Suresh Raina said on the sidelines of an event on Friday, ‘The Indian team has batsmen like Rishabh Pant and Shivam Dubey who can play big shots for the last overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal is young and he/she plays fearless cricket. Dubey will also have to be given a place in the team somehow. Very few players have the ability to hit sixes while standing. Earlier we have seen Yuvraj Singh and (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni bhai doing this. Shivam Dubey is a trump card but it will be difficult for him/her to get a place in the presence of Jaiswal.’

‘Anything is possible in this format’
Suresh Raina, the only Indian to score a century in the T20 World Cup, mentioned the Pakistan vs England T20 series. In the recently concluded T20 series, England defeated Pakistan 2-0. Raina said, ‘I was watching the T20 series being played between Pakistan and England. In this, the England team was playing fearless cricket. Anything is possible in this format. This is a format to be played without fear. Whoever plays without fear will win.’ The Indian team has reached America with the intention of ending the 17-year title drought.
