Rashid engineer will go to Parliament in police custody
The Delhi High Court also ordered that MP Rashid Engineer will be taken to the Lok Sabha and brought back in the police custody itself. The security system inside the Parliament will be decided after consulting the General Secretary. Earlier, the court reserved its decision on his/her custody parole petition on 7 February. Now the court has given him/her a two -day custody parole on Monday. With this, he/she will be able to attend the budget session of the current Parliament.
The courts went to participate in the budget session
Rashid Engineer approached the court to participate in the budget session. he/she claimed that after being elected to the Lok Sabha last year, the NIA court left him/her in legal confusion. The NIA court does not have the right to look into the cases of MPs/MLAs. he/she sought interim custody parole. On behalf of the NIA, senior advocate Siddharth Luthra and advocate Akshay Malik opposed the demand. he/she argued that Rashid has no inherent right to participate in Parliament. he/she has not given any clear purpose of parole.
Debate on security in court
Luthra cited security reasons. he/she said that Rashid would require a police escort to allow to enter Parliament, which causes difficulties due to restrictions on armed personnel inside the premises. he/she argued that custody parole is not the vested right of an MP. he/she said that such requests are usually given for personal reasons like marriage or mourning.
Rashid Engineer is accused in Terror Funding Case
Rashid Engineer is seriously accused of terrorist funding. NIA says that Rashid has given money for terrorist activities. The investigation of this case is still going on. Rashid is denying these allegations. he/she says that he/she is being implicated for political reasons. The court has allowed Rashid to attend the Parliament session, but has also imposed several conditions. These conditions have been imposed due to security reasons.
