The commission had said that the increase would be done in two phases. According to the report, in the next revision of house rent allowance, there will be an increase in HRA by 3 percent. HRA will be increased to 30 per cent from the existing 27 per cent. However, this will happen only if the hike in dearness allowance crosses 50 per cent. According to the Memorandum of DoPT, if DA crosses 50 per cent, then HRA will become 30 per cent, 20 per cent and 10 per cent.
