New Delhi : The issue of Mamta Banerjee remained hot in the meeting of Niti Aayog on Saturday. The West Bengal CM left the meeting midway. Mamta said that she was stopped after speaking for just five minutes. Niti Aayog gave clarification on Mamta’s allegations. Niti Aayog gave information in this regard by holding a press conference. Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had completely rejected Mamta’s allegations. She said that Mamta is fabricating a false story.

Niti Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said that the West Bengal Chief Minister was present in the meeting. Mamata Banerjee had requested to be given a chance to speak before lunch. The CEO said that I am just stating the facts, no interpretation. It was a very clear request from her side because normally we would have spoken alphabetically. So it starts with Andhra Pradesh, then Arunachal Pradesh… We actually adjusted and the Defence Minister actually called her (Mamata) just before Gujarat.

Every CM gets 7 minutes of time

The NITI Aayog CEO said that every Chief Minister is allotted seven minutes and there is just a clock on the top of the screen which tells you the time remaining. So it goes from seven to six, five, four and three. At the end of that, it shows zero. Zero. Nothing else. he/she said that nothing more happened… Then she said look, I wanted to speak more time, but I will not speak anymore. That was it. Nothing more happened. We all listened. They made their points and we respectfully listened to them and took notes. Just want to mention the fact that the Chief Secretary continued to come and he/she remained in the room even after she left because he/she had to catch a flight to Kolkata.

Those who did not participate suffered losses

The Niti Aayog CEO said that we had 10 absentees and 26 participants. We had absentees from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Puducherry. Subrahmanyam said that many people dropped out at the last moment in the meeting. he/she said that I had speeches from some states that did not participate. These included Jharkhand and Puducherry.
