New Delhi. The Indian team for T20 World Cup 2024 has been announced. The senior selection committee of BCCI announced the 15-member Team India a day before the deadline. The command of the Indian team in the World Cup will be in the hands of Rohit Sharma, while the responsibility of vice-captaincy will be on the shoulders of Hardik Pandya. Before the announcement of the team, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah held a meeting with the selection committee at Hotel ITC Narmada in Ahmedabad. BCCI announced the team for the World Cup through social media. The Indian Board did not hold any press conference for this. Many players who were eligible to play the World Cup have not got a place in this team. The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar ignored these players.

Rinku Singh, who has earned the tag of ‘finisher’ in a very short time in international cricket, has not got a place in the main team selected for the T20 World Cup. He has been kept among the reserve players. Rinku Singh, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, also plays the role of finisher in IPL. He is being described as the future star of Team India. Rinku’s performance in the current IPL has not been anything special. However, he has not got many opportunities in this season of IPL. Rinku has scored 356 runs in 15 T20 International matches which includes 2 half-centuries. During this period his strike rate has been 176.23.

Shumbhaman Gill will be the backup opener
Young opener Shubman Gill has not been included in the 15-man main team selected for the T20 World Cup to be played in West Indies and America. He will travel with the team as a reserve player. Gill scored a total of 890 runs in IPL 2023 with the help of 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries. After this he was made the captain of Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. However, this season he has not been successful in repeating his previous performance in IPL. This season of IPL, Gill has scored 320 runs in 10 matches. He is included in the team as a backup opener.

Pant and Samson heavy on KL Rahul
Experienced wicketkeeper KL Rahul was with Team India in the T20 World Cup last year. Rahul has scored well in the last few matches of the current IPL. Despite this, he has not got a place even among the reserve players of the World Cup team. Team India includes two wicketkeepers in the form of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. Rahul has scored 2265 runs in 72 T20 International matches at a strike rate of 139. He has scored more than 4 thousand runs in IPL.

Ravi Bishnoi was ignored
Lucknow Super Giants spinner Ravi Bishnoi is bowling brilliantly in this season of IPL. Yuzvendra Chahal is also in great form. Bishnoi was tried in T20 for more than a year. Despite this, the selection panel ignored him from the World Cup team. 23-year-old Bishnoi has taken 36 wickets in 24 T20 International matches, while he has taken 58 wickets in 61 IPL matches.

Ishan Kishan is not even among the reserve players
Ishan Kishan, who opened for Mumbai Indians along with Rohit Sharma in IPL 2024, was ignored from the World Cup team. Ishaan’s strike rate in this IPL has been more than 165. He has scored 212 runs. Left-handed batsman Ishan Kishan had returned home after taking a sudden break from the South Africa tour. Since then he is out of Team India. He has neither got a place in the main team of the World Cup nor has been included among the reserve players.
