40% tents and infrastructure were removed from both sides in Demchok and Depsang on LAC.

New Delhi : The process of disengagement is going on rapidly in Depsang and Demchok on LAC in Eastern Ladakh. According to sources, till Thursday night, 40% of the work of removing tents and temporary infrastructure has been completed at both the places. It is expected to increase further by about 20% on Friday i.e. even today. According to sources, the local commanders of both the countries are talking on the hotline every morning at these two points and discussing what action is to be taken that day. Meetings are also being held at the meeting point once or twice a day, in which whatever has happened regarding disengagement is being shared.40% work completed
About 10-12 temporary structures were built on both sides in Demchok, these were made of stones. Also, about 12 tents were set up on both sides. According to sources, by Thursday night, about 40 percent of these tents have been removed and an equal number of temporary structures have also been demolished. About 40 percent of the vehicles of Chinese soldiers in Depsang have been withdrawn and about 40 percent of the Indian soldiers who were deployed ahead have been withdrawn.

Joint verification will take place upon completion
According to sources, the work of removing tents and temporary structures is expected to be completed in 2-3 days. After this there will be joint verification. According to sources, the tents and temporary structures that are being removed are being informed to each other and this work is still on trust. Right now no one is verifying what has happened on the ground. But once all the tents and temporary structures are removed from both sides, then joint verification will take place. That is, the local military commanders of both the countries will go together and see whether whatever has been said has been done or not. Along with physical verification, there will also be aerial verification.

Patrolling will be done after verification
Once the sources are verified, then soldiers of both the countries will start patrolling in Depsang and Demchok. When asked about the modality of patrolling, sources said that discussions are still going on regarding the conditions. Before the standoff, when there was patrolling, there was patrolling twice a month and there were not more than 15 soldiers in the patrolling team. Maybe this will happen even now. According to sources, each other will be informed in advance about when the patrolling team is going so that there is no faceoff. According to sources, similar is happening at many places in the Eastern Sector also. Same thing is happening in Doklam also. There too, soldiers of both the countries inform each other before going on patrolling. Similar patrolling is happening in Gogra-Hot Spring area (except the buffer zone).

Then focus will be on buffer zone
According to sources, talks have not taken place yet on four buffer zones including Galwan. Right now the focus is on Demchok and Depsang only. Once patrolling starts here and trust is established, then there will be talks at the Corps Commander level to start patrolling in the buffer zone. No date has been fixed for talks at this level yet.
