New Delhi. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar turned 75 today. The former captain of Team India, who faced the world’s most dangerous fast bowlers in his/her era, created a world record in his/her debut series which still stands today. Gavaskar was born on 10 July 1949 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra. This right-handed batsman started his/her international cricket career in the year 1971. The Little Master, who started the Test series against the Windies, then tore apart the dreaded pace attack of the Windies. Gavaskar, who played without a helmet, impressed everyone with his/her brilliant batting in Port of Spain.

Sunil Gavaskar, who is currently playing the role of a commentator, scored a record 774 runs in the 4 Test match series against the Windies by hitting 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries including a double century. During this, his/her batting average was 154.80. In the debut series, Gavaskar set a world record which no batsman in the world has been able to break even after 53 years.

Sunil Gavaskar is the first cricketer in the world to score 10000 runs in Test cricket. he/she holds the record of scoring 2749 runs against West Indies. he/she scored 13 centuries against this team, which is a record. Sunny Gavaskar has made 58 century partnerships in Tests with 18 different players. he/she is the only cricketer to achieve this feat. Gavaskar was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team. This batsman was very influential in the 1970-80s.

Gavaskar scored 25834 runs in 348 first class matches which includes 81 centuries and 105 half-centuries.
