New Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah is bowling brilliantly in the Test series against Australia. This right-arm pacer registered a big record in his/her name by dismissing debutant Sam Constas in the second innings of the Boxing Day Test match. During this time, he/she broke a big record of former Team India all-rounder Kapil Dev, which was made by this legendary all-rounder 33 years ago. Bumrah has become the Indian fast bowler taking the most wickets in a Test series in Australia. The teams of India and Australia are facing each other in the fourth test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Jasprit Bumrah gave India its first success by clean bowling 19-year-old young opener Sam Constas in the second innings of Australia. Constas had hit two sixes off Bumrah’s balls in the first innings. Very few sixes are hit on Bumrah’s balls in Tests but this young batsman played a courageous innings and scored a half-century in the first innings. Sam Constas became Bumrah’s 26th victim in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Bumrah became the Indian pacer with the highest wicket taker in a single test series in Australia. Earlier this record was in the name of Kapil Dev who had taken 25 wickets in the Test series during the 1991-92 Australia tour. Bumrah’s name is also at third place in this list, who took 21 wickets in the Test series on Australian tour in 2018-19, while Manoj Prabhakar is at fourth place with 19 wickets, who achieved this feat in the 1991-92 series.
India’s first innings collapsed for 369 runs
By lunch on the fourth day, Australia scored 53 runs for 2 wickets in the second innings and increased their lead to 158 runs. At lunch, Marnus Labuschagne was playing on 20 runs while Steve Smith was playing on two runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah bowled Sam Constas (8) while Mohammad Siraj sent Usman Khawaja to the pavilion. Earlier, in response to Australia’s 474 runs, India scored 369 runs with the help of Nitish Kumar Reddy’s 114 runs, which gave the host team a lead of 105 runs on the basis of first innings.
