286% increase in assets of 71 re-elected MPs in 10 years, read full report

ADR-National Election Watch Report on Assets of Re Elected MPs: Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the campaign ‘National Election Watch’ consisting of 1200 NGOs have analyzed the assets of re-elected Lok Sabha MPs over 10 years. This analysis was done on the assets of the re-elected MPs between 2009 and 2019.

The analysis found an average increase of 286 per cent in the assets of the 71 re-elected MPs in these ten years. At the same time, the wealth of Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi, a BJP MP, has increased 40 times during this period. ADR and National Election Watch released this analysis report on Friday (February 3). According to the report, BJP MP Jigjinagi’s assets were around Rs 1.18 crore in 2009, increased to Rs 8.94 crore by 2014 and Rs 50.41 crore by 2019. In a span of 10 years, a total increase of 4,189 per cent was recorded in Jigjinagi’s wealth. In this way the wealth of BJP MP has increased more than 40 times. Jigajinagi has been elected from Bijapur in Karnataka. In 2019, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the sixth consecutive time. He was working as Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation from 2016 to 2019 in the Modi government.

BJP MP PC Mohan’s name at number two

In this report, the name of BJP MP PC Mohan is second in terms of increase in assets. Mohan was re-elected in 2019 from the Bangalore Central seat. His wealth increased to Rs 75.55 crore in ten years. If counted in percentage, his wealth increased by 1,306 percent.

Varun Gandhi and Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s wealth has increased so much

BJP leader Varun Gandhi, who was elected MP from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh for the third consecutive time, had assets of Rs 4.92 crore in 2009, which increased to Rs 60.32 crore in 2019. At the same time, Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had assets of Rs 60.31 crore in 2009, which increased to Rs 217.99 crore by 2019. The total increase in this was 261 percent.
