24 year old youth created a sensation by scoring a double century, created a blast in Ranji Trophy


New Delhi. Young Ayush Badoni, who is captaining Delhi in Ranji Trophy, has kept the team’s quarter-final hopes alive by playing a brilliant innings against Jharkhand. The 24-year-old captain’s first double century gave Delhi three points in the drawn match against Jharkhand on Saturday. After achieving these points, the host team remains in the race to make it to the possible quarter-finals of Ranji Trophy.

Delhi is in third place in Group D with 14 points in five matches. To qualify for the quarter-finals, they will need two wins against Saurashtra and Railways in January. In reply to Jharkhand’s 382 runs in the first innings, Delhi scored 388 runs after losing seven wickets till stumps on the last day. Badoni has also shone with some excellent innings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) but unfortunately in the last few seasons, he/she has not been able to convert them into big innings.

Badoni played an unbeaten inning of 205 runs with the help of 16 fours and 10 sixes. On the basis of this innings, Delhi team reached ahead of Jharkhand’s score of 382 runs in the first innings. On the score of 199 runs, Badoni gave his/her team the lead in the first innings by sending the ball of Jharkhand’s left-arm spinner Anukul Roy into the stands and achieved a double century.

Badoni got the support of Sumit Mathur (43) with whom he/she added 150 runs for the sixth wicket. Delhi team was in trouble after scoring 327 runs for seven wickets. Senior player Shivam Sharma (33) supported his/her captain well. Anuj Rawat also scored 52 runs for Delhi.
