22 crore on US visit and 17 crore in Japan … how much will be spent on PM Modi’s foreign visits? Government told

New Delhi: More than Rs 22 crore was spent on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America in June 2023. Minister of State for External Affairs Holy Margerita gave this information on Thursday in a written reply to a question asked by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. he/she also sought details of travel-wise expenditure incurred under major items like hotel system, community reception, transport system and other diverse expenses.

In response, Margerita introduced the country-wise expenditure data on foreign visits made by the Prime Minister in 2022, 2023 and 2024. his/her trips included the official, security and media delegation with him/her. According to the data, 22 crore 89 lakh 68 thousand 509 was spent on the Prime Minister’s visit to America in June 2023, while in September 2024, Rs 15 crore 33 lakh 76 thousand 348 was spent on this country’s visit.

Statistics from 2022 to 2024

These figures were related to 38 trips in May 2022, from a visit to Germany to Kuwait in December 2024. According to data related to the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan in May 2023, he/she was spent Rs 17 crore 19 lakh 33 thousand 356, while in May 2022, Rs 8001483 was spent on a visit to Nepal.

The minister also shared some figures of the years before 2014 in his/her reply. he/she said that earlier the Prime Minister spent 10 crore 74 lakh 27 Hur 363 rupees (USA, 2011); 9,95,76,890 (Russia, 2013), Rs 8,33,49,463 (France, 2011) and Rs 6,02,23,484 (Germany, 2013). he/she said, “These figures reflect real expenditure without adjustment of inflation or currency fluctuations.”
