2024 is going to be the hottest year, European Union’s weather organization C3S claims, the earth was very hot even in the month of August

New Delhi: The year 2024 is rapidly moving towards becoming the hottest year in the history of humanity. This year’s June, July and August were the hottest months on earth. This scary picture has emerged in the report of the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), an organization related to weather monitoring. The report warns that the earth is heating up much faster than expected. This intensity of heat will increase further. If the temperature remains 0.30 degrees Celsius lower than normal from September to December, then 2024 can be prevented from becoming the hottest year, but this has never happened in history. According to the report, the average increase in global temperature from June to August this year crossed the 1.5 degree mark. August 2024 was the hottest globally. The average temperature of the air at the ground surface was 16.82 degrees Celsius. This is 0.71 degrees more than normal. If compared to the pre-industrial era, the temperature was 1.51 degrees hotter. What is important is that this is the 13th month in the last 14 months, when the global average temperature was 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than the pre-industrial era.

The global average temperature was the highest in the last 12 months i.e. between September 2023 and August 2024. These have been the hottest 12 months on earth. During this period, the average temperature was 0.76 degrees Celsius higher than normal. At the same time, it was 1.64 degrees hotter than the pre-industrial era (1850-1900). In 2024, the global temperature was 0.70 degrees hotter than the average between January and August. This is 0.23 degrees hotter than 2023. Earlier, the record of the hottest year was in the name of 2023.

In the last three months of 2024, the world has experienced the hottest June to August, the hottest day and the hottest summer season. Such events are increasing the possibility of 2024 being the hottest year on record. If greenhouse gas emissions are not reduced, the heat will increase even faster in the coming years.
