20 players shortlisted for World Cup, DEXA test included in selection process, know big things

BCCI Review Meeting: The yo-yo test and Dexa will now be part of the selection criteria, among the major recommendations that have come from the senior team’s review meeting convened by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai on Sunday. In addition, emerging players must play enough domestic seasons to be eligible for selection in the national team. Apart from the Yo-Yo test, the NCA panel also recommended the addition of the DEXA scan to add another ‘scientific layer’ of testing before declaring players fit to play. The Dexa Scan is the proposed international standard for measuring body composition and bone health, a 10-minute test that measures the entire body and includes an accurate breakdown of bone mass, fat tissue and muscle.

The BCCI also said that issues of player availability, workload management and fitness parameters were also discussed in detail during the meeting along with the roadmap for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which India will host later in the year. Incidentally, India’s last ODI World Cup title came at home in 2011.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI has shortlisted 20 players who will be under observation. Will be rotated for proper preparation of ODI World Cup 2023. “It was a very productive meeting, where we reviewed past performance and made plans for future tournaments including the World Cup and the World Test Championship (WTC).”

“We will give priority to international cricket while ensuring that the IPL is not diluted,” the report quoted a BCCI source who attended the meeting as saying.

The BCCI said that keeping in mind the preparations for the men’s FTP and the ICC ODI 2023 World Cup, the NCA will work with the IPL franchises to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in IPL 2023.

The BCCI also said that issues of player availability, workload management and fitness parameters were also discussed in detail during the meeting along with the roadmap for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which India will host later in the year. Incidentally, India’s last ODI World Cup title came at home in 2011.

The meeting was attended by BCCI president Roger Binny, honorary secretary Jay Shah, captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, head of cricket (NCA) VVS Laxman and senior men’s selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma, whose panel was sacked in November. I went.
