2 retirements in 24 hours, whirlwind in Pak cricket amid Champions Trophy controversy

New Delhi. Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has announced his/her retirement from international cricket. Left-arm fast bowler Aamir is the second Pakistani player to retire within the last 24 hours. A day before Aamir, all-rounder Imad Wasim had also decided to quit international cricket. PCB had brought both the players back from retirement for the T20 World Cup this year. Both of them also got a chance to play in the T20 World Cup but both failed to leave a mark. This World Cup was soon to be forgotten by the Pakistan team. Both the players have announced their retirement for the second time. Aamir announced his/her retirement by writing an emotional letter on social media.

32 year old Mohammad Amir wrote that it is a matter of pride for him/her to play in all three formats for Pakistan. Aamir wrote that it was a difficult decision for him/her but he/she felt that this was the right time to retire. Aamir said that now is the time for young players to step forward and take responsibility. Aamir made his/her debut in international cricket in the year 2009. he/she played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 62 T20 International matches.

Aamir last played in T20 World Cup
Mohammad Aamir took 271 wickets in his/her name in international cricket, while during this he/she scored 1179 runs with the bat, which includes runs in Test, ODI and T20. Aamir last appeared for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024, which was jointly hosted by America and West Indies. A day before Aamir, Imad Wasim had announced his/her retirement from international cricket. Imad was also last seen in Pakistan’s green jersey in the T20 World Cup.

Imad took 117 international wickets
Imad Wasim made his/her debut in international cricket in May 2015. he/she made his/her international debut against Zimbabwe and played 55 ODI and 75 T20 International matches. During this period, Imad took 117 wickets in 130 international matches. he/she also scored 1540 runs during this period.
