13 out of 15 were killed… I want to go back to my country, an Indian trapped in the Russian army expressed his/her pain

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit to Russia a few days ago. In Moscow, he/she met Russian President Vladimir Putin. During this, PM Modi raised the issue of Indians trapped in the Russian army, on which President Putin said that Russia will help them return to India. After PM Modi’s visit to Russia, a video of an Indian fighting for the Russian army has surfaced. In which he/she is saying that out of 15 non-Russian soldiers in his/her team, only two are alive. he/she hopes that after PM Modi’s meeting with Russian President Putin, he/she will be able to return to his/her country.

Agents cheated an Indian man

The Indian man whose video has surfaced from the Russian army is named Urgyen Tamang and he/she is a resident of Kalimpong in West Bengal. he/she was brought to Russia by deceit and was also recruited in the army. Urgyen Tamang told that he/she has been fighting for the Russian army for the last 6 months. he/she was sent to Russia by deceiving agents. The agents had promised him/her a job as a security guard in Russia but when he/she reached Russia, he/she was sent to the Russia-Ukraine war.
Kalimpong Pradhan said that he/she is constantly in touch with Urgyen through WhatsApp but we and his/her family do not even know whether we will be able to see Urgyen again or not. Kalimpong Municipality Chairman Rabi Pradhan was asked for help. Pradhan contacted the Ministry of External Affairs and was told that the matter has been taken up with the Indian Embassy in Moscow for necessary assistance.

What did Urgyen say in his/her video message?

In a video message sent on Thursday, Urgyen said, “I am Urgyen Tamang from West Bengal, India. I have been stuck in the Russia-Ukraine war since March. There were 15 non-Russians here, but 13 have been killed. Only the two of us, me and a person from Sri Lanka, are alive. I am in touch with the chairman of Kalimpong Municipality. he/she told me that Modi was in Russia and he/she spoke to the Russian President. I am happy that I am alive and I want to go back to my country. I appeal to the authorities to please release me and other Indians. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.”

Where is Urgyen Tamang now?

Urgyen Tamang told Rabi Pradhan during a conversation that right now we have been brought to the rest area for the next 10-12 days, but the rest area is also in the forest. There are shops nearby and we are allowed to go to the shops in the evening. We have Wi-Fi in the camp, but we have not been given a password, so we cannot make calls from the camp. Tamang also told Pradhan that according to him/her, he/she will probably be allowed to go after the completion of the one-year agreement.
