1082 crore cash, liquor, drugs… Election campaign stopped in Maharashtra-Jharkhand, Election Commission opened a raw note

New Delhi: The election campaign for the remaining 38 assembly seats in Maharashtra, which has 288 assembly seats, and Jharkhand, which has 81 seats, ended at 6 pm on Monday. Counting of votes for the assembly elections to be held in both the states and by-elections to be held on 48 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats of 15 states will be done on Saturday, November 23. The Election Commission said that during this period, candidates, their supporters, Whatever illegal work was being done by the workers or otherwise to woo the voters. In that connection, police forces and other agencies in various states seized cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and gifts worth Rs 1082 crore.

This seizure in Maharashtra and Jharkhand is said to be 7 times more than the 2019 assembly elections in these states. Cash and other items worth more than Rs 660 crore were seized in Maharashtra and Rs 198 crore in Jharkhand. Cash, liquor, drugs and gifts worth Rs 224 crore were seized to be distributed among voters in connection with the by-elections.

This is how voters were lured in Maharashtra

The Commission said that various types of items made of precious metals worth Rs 282 crore were seized to woo voters in Maharashtra. On second place, cash worth Rs 153 crore was seized here. Which was being taken to divide the voters or to woo them in any way.

Gifts worth Rs 81 crore seized

Gifts worth about Rs 81 crore were caught at third place. Similarly, maximum gifts worth Rs 152 crore were seized in Jharkhand. Cash and drugs worth about Rs 15 crore each were seized on the second and third counts. The maximum amount of gift items worth more than Rs 121 crore were seized for the by-elections.
