Deepak Ahuja, Gurugram: There has been a crack in the IFFCO Chowk flyover built by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). About 100 feet long crack of 4 to 5 inches has formed in the middle of this 4 lane flyover. Due to this, if a car is moving at high speed, its balance may get disturbed or due to this the bike may slip. At the same time, when the matter came to light, NHAI officials have claimed that this flyover will be repaired in a day or two. IFFCO Chowk flyover has been constructed along the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway to cross MG Road. The construction of this 84 meter long flyover has cost about Rs 38.73 crore. NHAI had handed over the work of construction of this flyover to Gawar Construction Company in the year 2016. This flyover was opened for traffic in February 2019. According to the terms of the tender, the tender period of the agency under construction has expired in February 2023.

The speed limit on this flyover has been kept at 40 km per hour. Due to poor maintenance of the flyover, vehicles hesitate at a speed of 30 km/h. It is not that NHAI officials are not aware of this, but serious attention is not being given to it.
RE wall of this flyover has slipped
In August, 2021, the RE (Reinforced Earth) wall of this flyover in front of ABW Tower had slipped. During this period, this flyover was closed by the police for 10 days for traffic management. Investigation revealed that the RE wall had slipped due to subsidence of the main hole of the sewer line coming out from under the flyover.
A new water tank will be built in the water house of Sector-25, Faridabad, 5 lakh people of Haryana will benefit.
Questions kept being raised on officials
On May 7, 2019, there was a pothole on the Hero Honda Chowk flyover. Due to this, tires of 8 vehicles burst and a milk tanker overturned. On receiving the information, the traffic police closed this flyover for traffic. Earlier on April 24, 2018 and June 12, 2018, there was a pothole in this flyover. Construction of this flyover started in August 2014 at a cost of about Rs 200 crore. Was opened for traffic in July, 2017. The investigation revealed irregularities in construction. Later this flyover was repaired.
Expansion joints have opened in IFFCO Chowk flyover. Information about this has been received. These expansion joints will be repaired in a day or two.

On December 17, 2018, about 4×4 square feet portion of Rampura flyover on Delhi-Jaipur Expressway broke and fell down. Investigation of this approximately 700 meter long flyover revealed that irregularities were committed in the construction.

On June 9, 2023, a crack appeared near Firozpur Jhirka on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which was repaired. Similarly, the Rajiv Chowk to Sohna Expressway also got cracked this summer. NHAI got it rectified.
